Welcome to Twosville: A Town Themed Second Birthday Party
When it came to planning my son’s first birthday I had a theme in mind for AGES before he turned one. I prepped weeks before the big event. I did it all. As his second birthday came tumbling around I had NO idea what I was going to do to celebrate the big day.
I finally happened upon the idea of creating the town of Twosville. I thought it would be so much fun for the kids to have a town themed second birthday party. It gave me a ton of ideas to work with! It also allowed me to reuse and repurpose many items that I already had in my home— saving a bundle on the party! I used cardboard, tape, paint, and paper to create the town. My family and friends came over to help build the town. We did discover that we should have used some more sturdy and not-so-used boxes to create the town… ours looks a little Suess-like, but I still found it cute and the kiddo’s still loved it. Printables and my son’s toys helped put together the rest of the party. I feel like this is a theme that can be taken to the next level with time and supplies or done even simpler with imagination.

Heehehee… I didn’t know what I was getting into with that scalloped roof. Took forever! I can’t even imagine my kiddo at 15. I know it is going to happen, but I’m going to stay in blissful oblivion as long as possible. 🙂

I love how this shows you don’t have to buy a whole bunch of stuff – that even with something as simple as cardboard and paper you can have an adorable party! Happy B-day!!

We have our photo session w Macey tomorrow and I CANNOT.WAIT.
So I realize this is an old blog, but I am SO thankful that I found it because my 3, soon to be 4yr old, is asking for a town themed birthday party. You are the ONLY person I have found with ideas for this theme without it being related to a tv show. For that I thank you! Now, what do I do to give him the town cake he is requesting without ordering one with fondant everything (barf)! HELP! SOS! Haha! Seriously though, have any ideas? I can’t find miniature town figures that aren’t fairy garden related or huge!
We ended up doing cupcakes from the town bakery. The kids went up to the window to “order” their cupcakes. Or you could do house shaped cookies with royal icing and stick them to a layer cake that has buttercream on it. You could make each house a little business. I’m with you on fondant. Yuk! So glad the post was useful!
I was able to settle with him on a “Welcome to/population” sign for his cake, with the wooden building from his train set around the outside of the cake. Whew! Now to get building those store fronts!
