Birthdays are my favorite excuse to throw a party.
My friend’s birthdays are my favorite birthdays to celebrate. 
(Well, until my little guy’s first birthday… I’m sure.)

My friend Alicia has a birthday near the end of November which gives me the perfect excuse to have a Fall themed Dinner party in her honor. I’ve been brainstorming on the party for about a week now and I’m getting quite excited about it.

I’ve decided to make the party a sort of challenge for me to help me keep it on budget and to inspire me to do some fun DIY projects for the blog.
The Details:
Guests: Approximately 16 Guests
  Color Scheme: Browns and Blues inspired by this Inspiration Board from Creature Comforts

I’d like to explore different textures and lighting for this party… 
and of course have some delicious food!

The Challenge Rules:
Decoration Budget: $25 (must use mostly items that I already own)
Food & Favor Budget: $100
As we are a foodie group each of the guests are bringing a bottle of wine and a dessert or appetizer.
So, my food and favor budget must cover the main course, 2 sides, 2 bottles of wine and favors for 16 people. Certainly a challenge, but totally doable!
Gift Budget: $0— Must be completely homemade from supplies I already own. 
This would be slightly less possible if I didn’t already have something in mind and have an over abundance of supplies at the moment.

{REAL PARTY} Beer Before Baby Party

Well, I wanted to give you a recap on the Beer Before Baby Party that I threw for my husband a while back. You might remember me posting a few items about it in my
I was a horrible blogger and didn’t get hardly ANY photos. I was enjoying my own baby shower at a different location for the beginning of the party. Note: enlist a friend to snap pics at next party!
But, the party was successful and everyone had a really great time.
I’ll share what photos and details I did manage to get!
{Invitations & Favors}
The invitation stated that the party was an Advice Shower for my husband as well as an opening celebration of the beer my husband brewed in honor of our son.
The favors had labels designed by me with the title “Amber to Xander.”{Food Table}

We served small portions of “bar” food for the party. The menu included: Mac & Cheese, Rubens, Beer Sausages, Sweet Potato Fries, French Fries, Crudites and Guinness Cupcakes

{Activity}

For a simple activity we had guests write out their advice for my husband, a new father, on coasters. We now enjoy the coasters, and their advice, daily!

 We also asked guests to bet on the vital birth information. We still have this poster up in our apartment because we enjoyed it so much.



{Attire}

 

I thought it would be fun to make special attire for this party and I was right! These shirts were easy to make with transfer paper and my printer.

Love in Blossom Pt. 1

Yesterday I posted the inspiration board for this concept shoot.
Today…
THE PHOTOS!
Again, I’m so excited to be able to share these photos with you because I got to work with fabulous people and we worked really hard on this shoot! I have so many pictures that I thought I’d divide them into two posts. This post features what I’d imagine the head table could look like for this wedding.
The beautiful photography was done by my friend, and Portland photographer,
Aubrie LeGault of Capturing Grace Photography.
So, with no further ado… the pics!
The lovely bride (model Joan Stevens) is showered in cherry blossom confetti as she looks out at tables adorned with cherry blossom branches, tea lights and small arrangements of white carnations.
Low arrangements make it easier for people to see across the table and allow for more intimate conversations.
For the table settings we played with a mixture of traditional Japanese plates and a more modern look with the wine glasses and tall water glasses.
Cherry Blossom confetti (made from tissue paper) is sprinkled across the table and guests can find their spots by looking at their chopstick holders that double as place cards.
The happy bride shows off her white carnation and cherry blossom bouquet.
