The idea behind me styling different pieces for the kiddo came from a styling project Lauren Hartmann, The Little Things We Do, did for her daughter on Instagram. She took 3 different clothing pieces and styled at least one of them into every outfit for 7 days.

I asked her if she minded that I totally copy her and do the same with my kiddo. I thought it would be a challenge to do something cute on a little boy and an excuse for me to get him out of his PJs everyday. She didn’t mind… as a matter of fact, she invited anyone to join in on #7daysofstyle on Instagram. I’m excited to be meeting moms of other little boys working with this challenge as well.

Ready for his close-up

I didn’t realize that the hardest part of the challenge, for me and my son, would be the fact that there is NO WAY he will keep those pieces of clothing clean enough to wear more than once in a week. Yesterday, about 10 minutes after I got him dressed, he wiped out on the way to take pictures and got dirt on his leg. I dusted it off as much as possible and got some cute photos… then, 30 minutes later he was covered in mud. So, me and my washer are going to be good friends this week.

I’m adding two different challenges to the seven days of style… you know, I gotta make things harder! Here are the three challenges I’ll be working with this week:

  1. Use three different pieces and style at least ONE in every outfit for 7 days STRAIGHT.
  2. Use a traditionally “girly” color in every outfit. (I think this will be a fun challenge to keep him looking like a little boy while still wearing colors like pink or purple.)
  3. Make something for him to wear! (I’ll most likely use an idea from MADE’s Celebrate The Boy week!)

Follow along on Instagram if you want to see his new daily style pics or get ideas for little boy styling. Today’s pictures are from yesterday’s Day One outfit where I styled all three of his pieces together. I’ll be sharing all 7 outfits next week.

Outfit Details: This outfit might be proof of my love of Target: slip on shoes // Target, Shaun White Grey Skinnies // Target , Checkered Shirt (looks red in photos, but in person it is magenta/pink/rose colored) // Target, solid polo // Target

  1. What a stud! I will definitely be taking notes on how you style your little man, it’s always great to find other stylish boy mom’s to get inspiration from 🙂
