Today I spent literally ALL DAY LONG. Working on getting the Portland Bloggers Website updated and refreshed. The Portland Bloggers’ Master List also got a complete overhaul. Which means… if you are a Portland Blogger and were on the Master List before you need to RE-LIST your blog. I know… total pain in the tail. But, it will totally be worth it! The new features are seriously going to be so good for bloggers and for visitors to the Portland Bloggers’ website.
If you are a new reader to my blog then you might note that I have a lot of posts on Portland, Oregon. I moved to Oregon from Oklahoma about 7 years ago and have never felt more at home in my life. A few years ago the opportunity came about that I could start planning meet-ups for local bloggers. I took that opportunity and ran with it. The Portland Bloggers’ website and meet-up group is now bigger and better than I could have ever imagined it could be. We’ve got an amazing leadership team of local bloggers volunteering their time to help make each event a success and to keep the website filled with great blogging resources.
Anyways… I didn’t do much of anything “Snapshot” worthy this weekend as I just sat in front of the computer in my pajamas. But, I do think what I got done is pretty noteworthy! If you are a follower from the Portland, Oregon area pop on over to the Portland Bloggers website and check us out!
Not a blogger and/or not in Portland? Well, regular content is coming back tomorrow with a fun recipe!
Last week the lovely Macey from Motormouth Studios and Bee from The Spicy Bee joined me and some family to create 8 different cocktails and photograph them for future blog posts . Sometimes it is easy to forget how much work goes behind the scenes in beautiful blog photos.
For this shoot we had a ton of different ingredients and moving light. At one point we had to move the entire table and all of our props to the cul de sac in front of my house so that we had enough light to finish. Of course, it was all a ton of fun as well. It’s work, but it is my favorite kind of work!
Happy Sunday! I hope you all have had a great weekend.
The Portland Bloggers Family Picnic was this past weekend. I got to bring my sister, her husband, and my nephew to meet my blogging buddies. It was fun catching up with friends and getting to know some new bloggers.
I brought my favorite ice cream to the picnic to share. It was so hot out that even the ice didn’t help much! The ice cream melted pretty quickly and made for a tasty impromptu milk shake!
I also brought sunscreen to share… Because, sun safety is important! I brought a new-to-me brand from Coola Suncare that sent me some samples to test out. I love it! It’s the first organic sunscreen that I’ve had work well and smell good at the same time. It’s also the first spray sunscreen that hasn’t felt too oily or sticky. I also heard great things from friends who used it.
All in all it was a great time. How was your weekend?
This weekend we took a very necessary break from electronics and the rest of the world by heading out to camp near the Clackamas River near Estacada, Oregon. I had a bit of anxiety when I realized my cellphone had no reception. But, after a bit, it was a relief to just sit back and rest. We enjoyed amazing food on the fire, simple (yet delicious) cocktails, and sleeping with the stars overhead. Breathtaking and refreshing.
Today we came back to reality where I was greeted with 100 emails and several messages. I probably should have told someone we were going away for a bit… Whoops.
I also attended a friend’s memorial this afternoon. It reminded me that taking moments to unplug and enjoy the simpler things in life is very much important. Not saying that you can’t be connected and still connect– but, sometimes, it helps to put the phones/computers/video games down.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Having family visit for this fun three day weekend has just been amazing. And, even though most of us have been working hard trying to get over an icky Summer cold… we have been having a great holiday weekend. Of course, any weekend that starts with 3 hours of my enjoying alone time being pampered at the salon is going to be a good weekend.
After really wanting to go blond for a while Dosha salon sent me an email sharing a fantastic 50% off special for July 4th. Seriously, if you like Dosha then you want to get on their email club list. I’m always getting great deals through it! (Not sponsored- just like a good deal!)
Anyways, Friday morning was spent getting pampered at the salon while the family got everything ready for a potluck holiday lunch with friends. After playing at the park and eating lots of great food we had fun with a few sparklers at home and hit the hay. Kiddo still isn’t a fan of the loud bang of fireworks, so some major cuddling was happening as well.
Saturday was spent traveling Oregon. We started by touring the Tillamook Cheese Factory and heading out to the beach for an easy afternoon. We went out to Netarts, Oregon where we found a small little beach to sit and enjoy the ocean for a while. I don’t know if there is anything as restorative to me than the ocean. The sky in Oregon was brilliant yesterday and made for some great photographs. When I went to post one on Instagram my feed was filled with local friends posting photos of the sky as well!
We stopped by The Schooner in Netarts for dinner and sat at a HUGE outdoor table for a meal. The food was decent, but the presentation was awesome. A lot of thought had been put into the presentation of the meals making for a not quite practical, but fun dinner.
Today we are heading out to a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. I’m sure my Instagram feed will be filled with cute little party details. Follow along if you wanna see!
This weekend has been wonderful. My wonderful in-laws are in town and we’ve been spending time together while also attending a couple of Portland events.
Saturday was the West Elm Meet & Make “Crafting a Summer Gathering: Making Your 4th of July Party Pop!” I had the opportunity to teach local crafters how to make some party items for their upcoming 4th of July parties. Look forward to Tutorials and free printables this week!
Connect with the West Elm Portland Facebook or Instagram accounts to stay updated about future events. They’ve always got fun and affordable events going on such as my meet and make or paper flower crafting with Lia Griffith and more.
Today my mom-in-law joined me for a sneak preview of the Portland Flea and Rejuvenation collaboration Sunday Emporium. We shopped some adorable local hand-crafted home decor items as well as vintage decor. I bought an amazing little collection for my kitchen– I will have to share when it’s up on the wall!
Head out to Sunday Emporium the last Sunday of every month from 11 am to 5PM.
There is of course a lot more than just Oregon represented… But, lots of local goodies as well. I can’t wait to write more about the experience. But, for now, here are a few snapshots of my crazy (and awesome) day!
The photos are from my iPhone. Better images will come with the better stories. If you want to see more fun from FEAST check out the hashtag #feastpdx on social media.

Last night was the first evening for Portland Fashion Week. I had the most surreal (and amazing) day in my role as a PFW Style Collective Member. Today I’ll be attending two shows–as a matter of fact, I am writing this post while sitting in the gorgeous lounge section at this shows!
I’ve been MIA on the blog lately, which tears me apart since one of my goals (and something I recommend) is to stay more consistent with my blogging. I honestly can say that I’ve been working on some amazing projects and have been working on a ton of content. I just haven’t gotten it up! But, in this busy time in life I am all about forgiving myself and starting anew. I’ll get back to regular posting ASAP.
On to some snapshots of my day yesterday. I first headed over to our local Lucky Brand store to get style tips from two Lucky Brand stylists. I couldn’t believe that I tried on the first pair of jeans to get an absolute amazing fit! I’ll share more about this experience with outfit details soon!
After visiting Lucky, I hit PFW all dolled up in my new pair of complimentary plus size Georgia Weekender Jeans! I also wore an old, but favorite sparkly shirt from Old Navy and a favorite pair of booties… Also a few years old. I felt stylish (and comfortable) and didn’t feel out of place at all at Fashion Week. I’m hoping I am this happy with all of my FW looks! Also, super excited to spend time with other Portland area bloggers such as the lovely Sam Rosen (pictured below)
Thanks so much for reading and keeping up with this fun and crazy blog. I absolutely owe these amazing experience to you, my readers, and I feel so lucky that my work is paying off in such an unimaginably awesome way.
Disclaimer: I received free VIP tickets to Portland Fashion Week after being selected as a PFW style collective member. I did not receive additional payment. I also received complimentary goods from Lucky Brand. I did not receive additional payment. The choice to post was my own and all opinions, as always, are my honest opinions and only reflect my thoughts. Thank you!
Life has gotten so busy lately that I ended up taking an unexpected break from blogging. I’m not complaining… the busy has been wonderful, creative, and full of inspiration. It has also given me a TON of new content that I just have to get around to finding the time to craft and share posts about. Below are a few snapshots of life lately and some looks into what you’ll be seeing on the blog in the very near future.
Disclaimer: I received some free product and/or free entry into an event. Everything is disclosed below. All opinions are my own.
Disclaimer: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a free trip courtesy of Amtrak for review purposes. The photos, videos, and opinions are entirely my own, based on my experience.
Yesterday I spent a lovely day traveling to and hanging out in Seattle, WA. I’ve never traveled on a train before. Sure, I’ve ridden the MAX (Portland’s Light Rail System) but, that isn’t the same.
The trip was one of my more relaxing and enjoyable trips I’ve ever had. I didn’t have to deal with traffic or making sure I had enough gas in the car. I was able to easily get up and walk around. The dining selection was tasty. The seats were big and comfortable. And, I had an outlet to plug in my phone. I will be riding with Amtrak again.
I had been super excited about having wifi on the train and being able to get some work done while traveling. Unfortunately, the wifi was a little spotty on the way up to Seattle and nonexistent on the way back. The conductor came on overhead and conveyed apologies for the problem, and several signs explained that having more reliable wifi was one of the things that Amtrak is working on. Honestly, if I had driven or flown I wouldn’t have had the option for free wifi either. So, I wasn’t too fussed.
Amtrak’s website even added a handy dandy guide of things to do when visiting Seattle. Next time I take a trip up I’ll be bookmarking this page as well and making sure I visit more of Seattle!
*** CONTEST OVER: Currently Amtrak is having a promotion trying to find the best photo or video for promotional purposes through its Instagram fans hashtagging “#amtrakgram” until August 11. Winners will receive travel vouchers! Check out the AmtrakGram website for more information.****
Today was a LONG day. But, man… was it fun! We had our Portland Bloggers’ Family Picnic today. Sunshine, friends, good food, and blogging… sort of my favorite things wrapped up in one! I’ll be back a different day sharing some of the professional photos that Macey of Motormouth Studios shot, but I wanted to share a glimpse into today! Photos are iPhone photos via my Instagram, the Portland Bloggers’ Instagram, and the Portland Bloggers’ Facebook Page.
Tonight I got to enjoy a fabulous night as a guest with Field and Vine events for dinner with my good friend Bee from The Spicy Bee. I’ll chat more about the event
tomorrow soon… But, I wanted to share a few snapshots of the fun. Poor Bee got in on a lot of photos because I was wielding the camera!
All photos are from my iPhone 4 other than one that is an iPhone 5.
I’ve been really good recently about sticking to my posting schedule. Today I had a post almost ready to go an just waiting a few small things before I could publish. But, life got in the way a bit. And, I’m so glad it did.
My husband’s parents are in town visiting and we are having such fun together! My son is calling them “BamMa” and “Papa.” Today we decided to go out to the Willamette River and paddle board. I stayed at the shore with the kiddo…but, we all had a grand time. Afterwards we enjoyed a homemade dinner on a rooftop in downtown Portland.
Today was a long day. I got up super early to work on my craft project for the Pacific Northwest Blogger Craft & Photo event. I didn’t get my craft quite to the point that I wanted to… but, I got everyone a craft set of printables and the makings for food toppers and banners.
We ran WAY over time at the event and I only got ten minutes to explain my craft and hope that people would make them at home. I’m glad now that I went with such a simple craft. Though, I wish I had thought to put directions in the kit! I think the craft sets turned out really cute… unfortunately, I didn’t get ONE photo of them! So, if any one went to today’s event and took a photo of my craft, please send it my way!
Guests at the event also go to paint canvas bags, make macrame plant holders, and get their portrait taken. Fun fun! I’ll be back a different day to share more photos, crafts, and the such. Today, today I just want to share a glimpse of the fun and hit the hay! G’night!
